This is my second projector. My other projector is a TK800M which is much more expensive. I was not expecting much given the specs and price point but this thing really surprised me. It really surprised me how well it does in even moderate light. While the darker the room the better with projectors I have been using this in my living room with a good amount of ambient lighting without issue. I thought it would do much worse given my other projector is rated at 3000 ANSI lumens but they are surprisingly close in brightness. The TM800M is a 4k pixel shift projector so they are not really in the same class but given this is a fraction of the price it really gets much closer to it than I expected. This is not a 4k projector. It mentions 4k “supported” which would theoretically be downscaled to 1080 but none of my 4k devices show the 4k option when connected to this. Not really an issue as every 4k device I’ve used can do 1080 as well. The only other real con is that there is no zoom function so your screen size is locked in to the throw distance. It is marketed as a temporary/portable setup so it’s not a huge deal but if you are planning on a permanent setup your mounting location is more limited. I don’t see throw ratio listed anywhere but I have a 125in 16:9 screen (measured diagonally) and it fills it at ~146 inches (distance from screen). Power consumption is good for a projector. It hovers just under 100w. I was able to run this on a portable power station, every 100wh should give you about an hour of movie time. There are a few things it does better than the TK800M. It has built in Android tv. It’s not as fast as my 4k firestick but snappy enough where I don’t mind using it. The only gripe I had with this is the built in youtube app maxes at 720p but I tried a few different versions and this appears to be a youtube imposed limitation not a problem with the projector itself. The built in speakers are useable. While most projectors are built with the thought that external audio will be used these are more than serviceable. You’re not going to get surround sound out of them they aren’t laughably bad as they are on my more expensive projector. The most impressive feature to me was the automatic keystone correction. My other projector only has manual keystone correction. This projector allows you to set it on a level surface then then you tilt it automatically corrects the image within seconds without having to touch anything. The first time I didn’t even notice it happened because it did it so fast. I did try aiming at the ceiling and it doesn’t appear to auto keystone on the ceiling but works awesome on the wall even at pretty sharp angles. It is clear it was made with portability in mind and it does it well. At this price point you cant go wrong with either a temporary/portable or permanent setup.
